Too often we hear people say “I don’t have enough time!” Quite the ironic statement since we are technologically advancing at a faster pace than ever before where ease and convenience is the name of the game. With the latest innovations, devices, and gadgets, more and more people are still finding themselves more stressed, less fit, and they have less time on their hands. It seems like all of this technology is adding tasks to our plate rather than helping to remove it.

The same goes with being fit. Often, we hear and say, “I don’t have time to work out” which is really an excuse. But the truth is, finding the time to move and be fit is within your grasp if you're willing to grab it. Creating a healthy lifestyle is about making time for a healthy lifestyle. It’s finding an hour in your day to workout or spending a few extra minutes a week to plan your meals.

So, put down that remote, cut back on screen time, and get started planning your workouts in less than 30 minutes with these simple yet effective exercises:

  1. Jump Rope- Jumping rope is a convenient and powerful cardio exercise that you can do, even from the comfort of your own home. To use a jump rope in your workout, start with your first set of strength training exercises. Then after the set, jump rope for 1 minute for a high-intensity cardio workout followed by 2 minutes at a moderate intensity and then return to your strength training exercises. Find a rope that is perfect for your routine and that can be adjusted to your height and style like the Momentum Gear Speed at Simpsons Fitness Supply. Repeat this routine for 3 to 4 sets, interval training is a great way to build cardio into your workout and reduce weight quickly.

  1. Lift weights – Lifting weights is a great way to build lean muscle quickly and shed pounds. Weights can be used for your chest, legs, shoulders, back, triceps, and biceps. For each muscle group, perform 3 - 5 sets and 8 - 12 reps per set, using a weight that’s heavy enough to prevent you from going beyond 12 repetitions at a time. Rest in between sets 1-2 minutes as needed before beginning your next set.
